SCAN was developed during my thesis at the Basel School of Design. It’s a bimonthly, monothematic magazine for political journalism. It aims to communicate complex current topics like the refugee-crisis or the war in Libya. To address different target groups every topic can be accessed independently based on the readers individual state of knowledge. I created an «index» which provides background information for every chapter. This «index» includes readings about persons, organizations, events, terms and sources on different layers. In the concept the magazine is accompanied by a daily updated web-based service. The idea is to keep track of the daily news speed and at the same time have a medium for well-investigated and sustainable journalism.
