Konsens Magazin is a facilitator for the critical dialogue between graphic arts and social, even political subjects. The first issue is about the image of Russia in the western world. This image does not only influence the European discourse about Russia, it also influences the diplomatic relationship between the so called western world and Russia itself. The magazine is based on the contrast of two layers. On the text-layer, we don‘t want to give an apology or a counter statement to the current image of Russia. But we want to question it. The image-layer is a dispute with the visual presentation of Russia in western movies. Therefore we analyse footage of different epochs and genres. Although the stories, which Hollywood tells us, are fictive, they contribute to a real image.
